The new electric vehicle policy announced by the new BJP-led government in Delhi-NCR involves stopping all registrations of internal-combustion engine (ICE) three-wheelers by 15 August, 2025, and all ICE two-wheelers by 15 August, 2026. The incentives for electrification of commercial vehicles and private vehicles are also part of the draft policy.

Is this new policy far too ambitious? Can it work, and why do Delhi and other major Indian cities need to electrify their 'carpark'? With vehicular pollution on the rise and commercial vehicles contributing to the vast majority of that pollution, is electrification the only way out? ThePrint's Contributing Editor Kushan Mitra discusses with Kunal Khattar, Co-Founder of AdvantEdge, a green-mobility and energy focussed venture capital fund.
